After a wee break, back into the Midas.

Arranged a meet to pick up a block and some other bits, and ended up getting some coilovers as well.

Pics to follow, but suffice to say, car now has disc brakes, just a set of 8.4's, but would stop it way better than the drums it had. Only problem being our gearbox for some reason sports a small pot joint on one end and a large pot on the other! Having never used pot joints on the mini before ( allways used Hardy-spicer's) - this was a wee surprise lurking. One rebuilt caliper and one new one, with new upper and lower ball-joints fitted as well.

New starter has arrived, so just waiting for a clear morning to fit and run the engine for longer. One problem we are having a small issue with is the number of non-stainless steel fastners used in the original build. when exposed to the elements they dissolve, or turn to powder when putting a screwdriver anywhere near them. Also majority of the rubber components are perished wiht being exposed and un-used for 25 years, so some minor replacements here and there required.

Coilovers fitted as well, with a bit of adjustment, car now sits a lot better. With the wider track of the disc conversion, gives it a more purposeful look.
