one of the bonnet vents was allowing water to run in and drench it each time it rained or I washed the car, it was giving some strange running issues too so I had to do something to rectify it

so I knocked up a small round alloy cover to sit on top

Image

time will tell

I also began stripping my spare subframe for rebuilding over the winter
if I'm lucky I may get away with re-greasing the bearings?

Don't skimp on something so important. Use only top quality grease

This is where those saved pop-rivet snapped-off shafts come into their own, because you might need to replace some of those needle rollers.

Great idea, but I'll just change the worst ones :)

Found that the bonnet vent was allowing water to drench the throttle body each time it rained or I washed the car, giving strange idling issues to the pont that 2.5k became the norm, this type seem to be obsolete so replacing would be very costly and not an option, so I figured it was the stepper motor that was the cause of my woes so stripped it down, it was a right mess, thankfully just the plunger seized, so I stripped and lubed it then made a little cover for the throttle body to prevent reoccurrence.

Runs like a dream now :)

Bit more to the rear lights also, after truing up the larger tubes andGrit blasting them and astra lights to provide a key for final bonding, then I trued up the tubes relative to the astra bulb holders (so I know they are equally straight and legal) then checked them on the car, spot on, I'll add the smaller tubes tonight

I was wondering, instead of multiple lights have you ever considered installing 1 taillight that does all the functions? For example 1 Dutch GTM owner used the led lights from a Passat and built a housing from perspex for it. http://www.gtmlibra.nl/mei8.htm
I wonder myself if the Alfa Mito lights could fit and how it would look.

Hi there, that's what I'm fitting, RDX Multifunction units, stop, tail and reverse in the main larger housing and the reflector in the smaller upper housing,

Image

I spent a long time trying all sorts I'd lens combinations and configurations and decided upon needing 2 sizes with the smallest at the top to he most aesthetically pleasing, then I varied the diameters of the circles for best fit and form, as it happened the largest looked best at 95mm so I could use the same type I used in my quantum, whereas the smallest needed to be around 60-65mm to look best

Image

and I couldn't find any other lights to fit that also didn't have ridiculously convex lenses so opted to put the reflectors there as I found some 67mm units that also light up with tail.
The fog and reverse will be relocated to the bumper in separate units.

Front coilover brackets made, rears still a work in progress due to some complex calculations going on but almost ready to put welder to steel there too, going for cantilever pushrod setup at the back with horizontal coilovers

That's a very tidy bit of welding there, Justin. What do you use?
