today, i was mostly faffing about with headlamps...boy! I do not like this Cibie arrangement !! And I discovered that the eyebrows are bonded to the frames.
Still after a couple of hours I managed to get my replacement headlamps in position.
As you can see, these lamps have LEDs on the lower half of the rim as DRLs. Not wired in yet, next job !

These lamps are polycarbonate construction, so will not rust, and the beam is formed in the reflector, so have a flat lens..and have a much sharper cutoff than the Cibies...so very well pleased with this modification.

Next question? where did I get them? Answer: http://www.kitspares.co.uk/index.php?ro ... search=led

A bit pricey, but I do like the look of them, but, more importantly is the DRL function, a definite must for a small car on today's roads !!

Thanks!

Quite tight, so I think I'll continue looking for Mark 1 MX5 seats. The seats I bought for my Bronze - the make of which I have long forgotten - were very comfortable, but a bit too big (once I'd lived with the car for a while) and the roof clearance was similar to yours. I even slept in it a few times, and it wasn't too uncomfortable - but I'm not so likely to do that these days, and I do use the space behind the seats.

There's also the matter of better rearwards visibility with smaller seat backs...

I am going to change the door mirrors to something bigger to improve rearward vision, although these MX5 seats are narrow at the top so they dont restrict the view too much !!

There's another thing I want to change. Once again, I'd thought of the mirrors from an MX5 - mainly because a Metro I was removing bits from, in a scrapyard, was sitting beside several MX5s, and mostly, they still had their mirrors on. They were all (I think) electrically adjustable, which suits me.

I might not do this straight away though, the car's still waiting for me to do a lot of other things to it. Fitting a different set of mirrors is a job which can go to the back of the queue.

Have a look at MGF or MG TF, they have heated and adjustable mirrors and are plentiful!

You're quite right Alan, I meant MGF mirrors, not MX5. Too busy thinking about MX5 seats...

Today's update: 3rd brake light. A very bright row of LEDs to hopefully prevent a rear end shunt !!
Yes, it does cut into the drain channel, but a small amount of resin and glass fibre behind will put that right and stop any leakage into the rear cubby hole !

I was going to put one on the roof as it would be in a better position for the eyeline of following cars, but it didnt look right to me. This is low, but bright, so I am hoping that will compensate !! ;)

looks can be very deceiving! the gel coat is totally knackered even though it does look good when the sun shines on it...from a distance !! 8-)
