shiny new LCB

having got fed up of V1 bomber noises coming from the engine, and also having got fed up of the manifold warping as I tried to weld up the holes, I finally succumed and bought a SS manifold from Specialist Components.
For £93 I think it's a good bit of kit, certainly better than the bog standard cheap one it will replace.
The bends are all mandrelled, the flanges good and thick, and the centre one bevelled I presume to clear the inlet.

A slot for an O2 sensor ready for converting to Megasquirt for Siamese code too! ;)

Two O2 sensor bosses no less, each with a stainless blanking plug, I am well impressed.
I may well megasquirt at some point, but as I'm getting 48 mpg on the motorway at the moment, I don't want to tamper with something that's not broken.

Looks great for just 93 pounds! For what sort of engine (size, bhp) is this exhaust designed?

Yes the Midas is quite the little goldmine when it comes to fuel efficiency isnt it. ;).

My Mk3 Coupe is running on twin dcoe's and I am still getting around 38-40 mpg if I dont go mad. I can't complain about that. However I bet I could get more on EFI with DCOE pattern TBA's.....which is what I have in stock. Just not had time to fit them yet.

Hans, I've got a 1293 with gas flowed head and a 266 cam, the guy at SC said the manifold would be fine for that.
Don't know if larger bores are available from them at that price. I didn't want anything larger, got to keep those exhaust gasses moving.

David, I've still got he Megasquirt box I bought from you sitting on the shelf waiting to be fitted. I'll get round to it one day, like everything else! :roll:

I know what you mean.

I must say though, megasquirt/megajolt is a good leap up for the engine. Personally I would always go for the megasquirt as you get the option to do efi if you ever want to, or to just do sparks.

Had to do the drivers side hinges today. Same as Hans did, converted to M8 stainless bolts and put an M8 bolt in as the hinge. Its taken all the slop out and now I don't have to lift the door up (drivers door gets some hammer) to close it :). One day I might paint them ;).

One side effect is my interior light actually switches on and off now when I open/close the door as it lines up right now. It never worked before. Small things amuse small minds LOL.

I still get a warm glow of happiness every time I open the door and my new interior light comes on...in fact sometimes I open and close the door again just for the hell of it :mrgreen: I ought to get out more...

If this is a medium bore exhaust, it will be perfect for that engine (says Vizard). Your engine seems similar to my one (to be), so I am interested to hear from you when it's on the road again. This may be a good exhaust for me as well and much cheaper than anticipated.

I'll be interested to know how it fits, is it Mini or Metro sized?

Bonus if it works well on a Gold, my mild steel Maniflow version is gently crumbling away.
