AVONBAR

Maybe you're squeezing all you can out of a 998, or going large-bore with a 1380 (or even larger!) - either way, let us know all about it here!

Looks awesome

to quote the builder, it went together like a dream...which gives me a warm feeling that it is going to run like a sewing machine !

after running in for 1000miles, then I will take it to my nearest rolling road and get them to work their magic on it, after that, I think I will have a very good power unit indeed ! :D

Well, I picked up the engine today. Must say it looks extremely tasty. Should be in the car in a couple of weeks or so, depending on how the coil over conversion goes. Have had explicit running in instructions from Mr.Avonbar before I take it to Neil Slark for a rolling road setup later this year. :D

Just to round this thread off.
I have run the engine for 128 miles so far and it is performing very well.
Only 900 miles to go to complete the running in period !! :D

Congrats on the upgrade, you can't get more smiles per mile than this. Have fun.

Having a real problem getting this engine to run with the Weber carb !!

It looks like there is a misfire on No.4 cylinder, which needs sorting out ASAP !!

Is the cylinder sparking? Have you tried swapping the plugs around? Valve clearances OK? Manifold air leak?

BTW! does anybody know what pressure the fuel should be for the 45DCOE?
I think I have mine set too high so want to get it right - trying to eliminate any and all potential reasons for the carb to not run properly !! :)

Yes, 2-3 psi sounds right
Also be careful of bore washing if too much fuel is going in.
Are you still running the engine in ?
