I had not thought of the output shaft problem as Stuart has pointed out,but I would think a two part drive shaft with 3 UJ's would sort that out-motor in centre, first short shaft to tunnel, long shaft to rear.I dont think I would consider the VFR engines, too small-and the VTEC 800 is flawed for a bike as the power can come in with a bang, which is not a good idea when cranked over!.That wouldnt be a problem in a car, but remember the saying 'there is no substitute for cubes'. Another possible would be a Gold Wing engine-flat four,or flat 6 if your wallet stretched that far.Still shaft drive as well.
I seem to remember reading that bike engined kit cars had to have some sort of proper reverse gear now to get through regs, maybe somone could enlighten me?
My main reason for suggesting these engines is that they will fit comfortably under the bonnet of a midas.Just thought of another one-2.3 litre Triumph rocket 3. Three cylinder in-line,shaft drive ,but fairly recent and probably a bit expensive. However,I think I am right in saying it is the fastest accelerating bike up to 60.I just dont think I would like to pay the road tax on a 2.3! food for thought,Stan.
