Electric Gold coupe

I had an inquiry from a Dutch tech. development group who are building an electric car, but for a next project want to make a really usable electric vehicle. They were thinking of the Gold coupe. I think that's an excellent choice, having received earlier inquiries from people around London. I have linked these people to Alistair Courtney since I am not involved in selling body shells. We hope to hear from him when he sells one for this electric car project.

I was a nats whisker away from making a Midas Gold EV.

I think the Coupe is probably more suited as its got a stiffer body. Will need it with all the weight of those batteries. Even if they are Thunder Sky Li batteries. I do think its a goer though.

I was just looking around on the web one night as my mate and I had been discussing electric cars and its amazing what you can buy in China in the way of electric wheel hubs, that is the motor is built into the hub.
The trouble is,none of them had a proper price on as they wanted to know how many you wanted to give you their 'best price'-in multiples of 20! I think if I was going this route, you need a donkey engine,ie small petrol generator topping up a pod of something like 4 batteries.I think this route is better than having total discharge/recharge system as it gives some leeway over range and possible stopping at the side of the road due to run-out!.I am not an expert however,so dont know how to make this system work. Anyone any thoughts? Stan.

I was looking at in-wheel motors. A lot of torque at the wheel....the only thing is handling. You are putting a lot of weight into the hub....which is what you want to try and avoid.

Range extenders are what you are talking about. I even saw an enfield with a range extender generator that was in a trailer. When doing local journeys, the range extender wasnt needed. When on a long run, just put the trailer on, switch the genny on and away you go in hybrid mode LOL.

What you suggest has been achieved very succesfully by using a Capstone microturbine to charge a set of Lipo cells,

And also fitted to a Ford S-max by Langford engineering in the UK,

Though I think we'd have problems trying to get this lot under the boot lid of a Midas,

I think it has to do with this car on the 2009 Stoneleigh show:

This project was a dead end, but I forgot what the reason was. Could be lack of money or just lack on interest.
