Midas Bronze For Sale

Postby Midas Matt » Sat Mar 05, 2011 6:59 pm

I'm sorry to say that I have decided to sell our Midas Bronze.

The car was bought for my son (as his first car because the insurance is a lot cheaper) but unfortunately it is just too fast what with the Avonbar 1380 engine. It's a shame as it really is a fantastic little car to drive. :(

The car has had a full restoration over the last 6 months or so and passed it's MOT in January. An enormous amount of time (not to mention money !) has been spent getting the car into good shape and the restoration has included:

- New front and rear brakes (pads, discs, drums, shoes, cylinders etc.)
- New engine mountings
- New suspension bushes
- New front dampers
- Thorough engine service (oil, filters, plugs, gearshift linkage seal etc..)
- New Facet fuel pump
- Interior completely re-trimmedthroughout (new carpet, seat belts) including making a lid to cover the rear seat wells
- New clocks (voltmeter, vacuum and oil pressure) and numerous new switches
- Fitting of Kenwood ICE (with aux in for ipod) & 3 way speakers
- Fitting of Scorpion alarm with remote central locking
- Complete overhaul of the doors with new door window glass seals, handles & winders
- New spot lamps
- New high level rear brake light
- The wiring has had a complete overhaul including 'making good' any poor connections and repairs to the heated rear screen element
- New wipers and windscreen washer jets
- New door and boot seals (and boot lock)
- New exhaust flexible coupling

Before advertising it anywhere else I thought I'd post a message on this forum just in case someone is looking for a well sorted Bronze for the summer !

The body work is sound but does have a few crazes in the gel coat (which is only to be expected with a car that is 27 years old)

I've put some photos of the car onto a Flickr site:

If anyone is interested then please get in touch as I will be advertising elsewhere in a few days.

Thanks

Simon

That's a shame Simon, perhaps a nice little 850 engine would slow him down a bit :)

Those roof gutters look very neat and discreet, is that something you did, if so can you remember where they came from ? mine has the stick-on ones which do the job but don't look half as neat.

Good luck with the sale.

Hi Stuart,

Yes the roof gutters were something that I put on the car.

The gutters are a rubber extrusion from Woollies trim (http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/p-1761-rubber-extrusion.aspx that was attached with a two pack waterproof contact adhesive and a few pop rivets.

They seem to work really well and mean that you dont have to rely on the single door seal to keep the rain water out !

Thanks

Simon

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your interest & I've sent a reply to your PM.

Incidentally the car is now on Ebay (Item No. 180635930926) and the advert has some more information about the Midas.

Regards

Hi Jaye,

Yes the car has turned out well and you were right about how quick she is!

I've got 118 people watching the car on Ebay at the moment (yes 118!) so hopefully it will sell for a reasonable price.

Thanks

The Midas has now been sold - it ended up with over 128 people watching it on Ebay !! :o

I'll be sad to see it go though as it's a great little car.

Thanks
