I have one Gold convertible on the road, this was the car you saw with the MX5 seats, this car will eventually be sold. A left hand drive unregistered Gold Coupe from Germany to be used for spares and molding, Johnny wants to turn it into a trailer. Another Gold convertible with an extended front and fitted with a Rover K-series 1400 engine and five speed box, again unregistered. This car needs finishing and will eventually replace the other convertible. Lastly a registered Gold Coupe in bits, bought from E Bay as an abandoned project. This car is to have its front wings cut off and a new extended front fitted, to allow possibly, another Rover K-series engine to be fitted. I have both a 1600cc and an 1800VVC engine in stock for this car. But with the extended front you will have room for most in line four pot, modern twin cam engine. Look at how the Mini boys fit Honda Vtec's etc. I want to end up with two cars a coupe and a convertible. Then the rest can be sold.

I gather spares when I can, especially when there a bargain and as you know your car can be kept off the road for the daftest component.

I'm not quite sure what is going on, is David J. working with you or purchasing independently? Are we buying via the UK office or Belgium. I'm happy to fit in with any plan. I need four pairs of 7 inch and two pairs of 5 and 3/4 inch. I could even go direct, but don't want to rock the boat! I await instructions.

I was also wondering if Alistair Courtney needed any? I'll email him direct.

Regards Alan

Hi Alan,
No, I have no relations with DavidJ.

I am still after this Harold chap to find out where we can buy these rings. It seems clear that they have a UK office and have stock, so I would expect the forum group to buy in the UK to save shipping costs. Whether purchases will be done as a group buy or individually I don't know. They have stock so it is not imperative to do a group buy. If they have reasonable shipping costs, I would suggest everyone buys them individually, but if you guys want to team up, please do. For us on the continent we will arrange our own scheme.

Hello Hans,

I will wait and see what Harold says, but in the meantime, I've asked David to get me two sets of the smaller light rings as well. A bird in the hand!

Alan

DavidJ is talking about bowls, not the rings. Bowls are like metal helmets where the lights fit in. This is common with classic cars, but if it will fit a Midas is questionable. Possibly the opening where the light goes needs widening. Beware that you are now mixing 2 thoughts.

It would be nice if finally we got all ordering details from Harold O'connor. I can't believe how slow the information goes. If I don't get all the answers tomorrow I am going to call them. It is strange the Morette website does not have contact details as an address and tel. number. We should be able to talk to him directly and arrange the details.

Hi All

Just to correct Hans on the product that I am collecting they are Morette 145mm lamp mounting rings that are identical to the ones that he is trying to obtain from the current manufacturer. They are in effect trunkated bowls and will fit the Midas without any modification whatsoever. To see an illustration go to Demon Tweeks Cibie Mounting Rings.

Were they the same as the ones earlier in the thread that Stan had used on his mk3?
