Austin Metro; MG Metro. Not sure about years of production, my Mk 2 used the instrument pack from a 1981 Austin Metro HLS (HLS and MG Metro had the rev counter in the dash, lower spec models didn't).
Hopefully someone more on-the-ball will be along soon with more information, though.

Hi,
The clocks are from a 1980 - 84 Metro any one will do but if you want a rev counter you'll need a set from one of the following... HLS, S, MG, MG Turbo (130mph) or Vanden Plas. If you have a version with the clock and the central fuel and temp sensors you can add the rev counter to that pod though one thing to check would be the circuit board on the back as some had the rev counter section trimmed off. There are two manufacturers of the instrument pods Smiths and Veglia the smiths are much better as the veglia ones tended to have pool voltage stablisation so your temp and fuel guages can be a bit wayward. You can tell the difference by looking at the rev counter as the smiths pod has a bevelled edge around the digital clock and the veglia is flat.
I'm now aware of how much of an anorak that makes me!!! :-p
Cheers,
Mike

I wouldn't worry, anoraks can be extremely useful!
(and I've just learnt something I never knew)

Hi,
That's a common issue tends to happen if they have been clocked or zero'd in the past or if someone has rammed the reset hard in the past. The good news is that the speedo is shared with the lower range models with the exception of the MG ones. The post 85 ones were particularly problematic.
The good news is they are available and not terrificly expensive.

The smiths variations are with the downlighting over the instruments...single long green strip or three separate windows.
cheers,
Mike

I think the only one I ever had that worked was on my old Metro City. Then there are rev counters that need a thump to get them going!!
