I also gave away an A+ 1275 (Metro HLS) engine a couple of years ago, but it WAS a known oil-burner. Just the same, if I'd realised I might have needed one again, I'd still have hung on to it, oil-burner or not...
Indeed I should've kept it and rebuilt it with a mild overbore and put it in a mini...but mine was an oil burner with ruined shells no doubt.
Thinking about it, mine had come out of a crashed Metro around 1986, and after a brief outing in my Midas at that time, had been sitting in my Dad's garage unused since the day I gave it away, over 20 years later. It may have required a bit of work to get it running again - if it ever did...
