I don't know where you're looking Alex but I know of at least 5 Midas, off the top of my head, that have sold in the time you've been looking.

That really is very frustrating but not at all uncommon. If someone's prepared to pay more then, there you go, that's what auctions are about. You just have to keep looking. I will say this though, I think that the Midas is extremely good value at the moment as they are solid little cars and great fun to drive, very practical too. I can not help but think their prices will rise as to be honest they are a bargain.

The best way to look at them is as a project for a total rebuild. But bear in mind that you've got all the parts there and pre registered too so effectively you're about 75% done with regards a completed on the road kit car. Strip it all down clean up and refurbish the worn parts fit it all together with new nuts and bolts and maybe spray it in the colour of your choice and hey presto you've got as good as newly built kit car to simply drive. Now how much would that all cost if you were buying a new kit?

Come to think of it how much is a rusty old Mini these days? and with that you're going to have to shell out for most of the new panels to be welded into the body to get it through an MOT sooner or later too. OK Metros are cheap and I have one spare with a rebuilt K series engine by a well known engine builder and race car man but that's a Metro itching to become a Midas!
