Gold Coupe Mk3

Postby AndyBeeson » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:20 pm

Hi,
It`s great to find this form, seems a great place to get share info on the cars.
I`ve had my Mk3 Gold Coupe since new. I purchased the 45 hour kit with nearly new parts from Corby back in 1988 and got it on the road by June 1989 (has anyone built one in 45 hours?).
The car has now done 200,000 miles and currently is in need of a new gearbox but apart from that everything else is fine. Yes it`s had repairs along the way like any other car.
I`ve used it as daily transport, done car boot sales with it (it`s surprising how much you can carry - a real Tardis) and even gave my mum and two of her W.I. friends a lift in it (2 in the front and 2 in the back for those wondering). I even used to transport my Amiga 1200 in tower case and CRT monitor back and forth to the Felbrigg Amiga Group once a week (36 miles each way) over the Norfolk back roads, computer still works fine after all this time.
I`ll post more about the car on the Dead or Alive section.
I look forward to another 200,000+ miles in my Midas.
Andrew.

Yes that`s 200000 miles not KM.
The red wheels were Harold Dermott`s idea. still looks nice when polished up. Need to respray the door frames now though. Wheels are getting a bit grubby and in need of a polish or restoration.
Once the gearbox is sorted it should be OK.

I reckon mine has done about 230,000, although not all in my hands.

Cries of 'Yes it looks like it!'
