I read the post on fitting the monza type cap but did not want to grind or cut the body as I intend to leave it as white gelcoal. I have polished it it it has come up mint.
I have found a cap that fits in the hole perfectly. See photo. Not only is it the right size for the hole it has the right curviture of the guard and it sits the Metro Tank spout.
It is off a MGF and even the key is the same type as the ignition key so i will get a locksmith to rekey it to fit. One less key on the key ring.
I like that, but the few MGF fuel caps I've seen on eBay have the two prong fitting, and my tank filler is the type which needs a three prong cap. Does yours by any chance have three prongs, or is it just two?
Another alternative (for me, anyway) would be to buy something like this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MGF-TF-FUEL-CAP-/181087804745?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a29ac9d49 and try and fit it to my cap.
I suspect it might end up as another thing on the list of things to do if I did that, though...
