Midas in New Zealand

Postby Mininut1 » Wed Aug 15, 2012 11:27 am

Hi All,
My name is Rex and I live in Auckland New Zealand. I have just purchased a Midas Gold Mk3. Believed to be only of 5 in New Zealand.
It was imported to NZ late last year from Ireland. It needs a bit of work but it is a runner and I have had a short drive around the block.
I have a collection of Minis

I'm amazed that as many as five have made it to NZ!

I'd say that's more than just a collection of Minis, it's a stack of them!!! ;)

Good to hear the Midas is truly a global car the Gold Coupe is certainly my favourite How many Metros do you have out there though?

I have started to rebuild my Midas and one of the things I wanted to improve on was the fuel cap.
I read the post on fitting the monza type cap but did not want to grind or cut the body as I intend to leave it as white gelcoal. I have polished it it it has come up mint.
I have found a cap that fits in the hole perfectly. See photo. Not only is it the right size for the hole it has the right curviture of the guard and it sits the Metro Tank spout.
It is off a MGF and even the key is the same type as the ignition key so i will get a locksmith to rekey it to fit. One less key on the key ring.

Sorry I think the picture is a bit big. I do not know how to make them fit the page. Have attached another to see if it is better.

errrr hmmm yes they are a wee bit big LOL

I often use http://www.pixlr.com it's free and allows you to do pretty much any image editing you need to online.

I upload my photos to imgur.com when it gives you the full image link:
Imgur.com/random.jpg
You can then append a letter to denote the size to use for example:
Imgur.com/randoms.jpg for small
Imgur.com/randomm. Jpg for medium (Perfect for the forum)
Imgur.com/randoml. Jpg for large.

It also allows you to create albums etc, very handy website!
