Hi my name is John and have just become the owner of a white 87 mk2 repatriated from Ireland
My previous hobby car was a 71 mini but i prefer the no rust body approach
I am sure some assistance will be required during the overhaul of this little beauty.

yes it was advertised for a long time at different prices and on different sale sites.
I contacted the seller after it didn't sell on E bay and did a deal.

Nice one, with the way Mini prices are going the Midas is a bargain at the moment.

i agree. Selling my mini enabled me to buy the Midas with plenty left over to buy the parts to do it up.

They're quite a different drive than a Mini, also much much faster when you're going above 50 mph.

Not even been on the road with it yet so cannot even compare it.
Definitely looking forward to my first proper drive in it. When it will be i don't know. We will see.

Good to see another new Midas owner finding their way to the forum.

Cracking little cars which go on and on. Only thing rust wise you need to check out is the rear subframe. They are generally pretty good but do bear in mind just how old some of these cars can be. Easy to sort out though and I know Alistair at Midas Cars has been getting a number of subframes galvanised of late for people who are restoring their Midas. He's got a gorgeous Gold Coupe he's working with at the moment which should spur people on a fair bit. It has done for me. Wish I could afford to get a paint job like that done but I've got to finish the bodywork on mine first.

Don't think it will be ready for May as i need to finish a motorbike i am building for somebody else
(classic Kawasaki) First. Managing to do bits and pieces as i go so i can order stuff for later use
