Hello and welcome,

That's a nice gift you've been given. Is it an early Midas kit with all the right bits and brackets, glass etc requiring just a donor Metro or are there bits missing?

Buying a full Austin Metro is the best option to save having to hunt down lots of parts separately.

It's a shame you weren't given a Quantum by the sounds of it, that might have been more up your street being Ford based http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quantum-Salon ... 19ea131ebe

Have you got any photos of the car ?

Welcome to the forum Damian. Parts are getting rare since the production of the Metro stopped 24 years ago. You might find a Metro on the breakers yard or in the classifieds. Also often parts are found on Ebay, I suppose in the same price range as your Ford parts. Note that the bonnet catch is from a Fiesta MK1! Most special parts for Midas haven't been produced anymore as the door hinges and rear suspension brackets. I hope you have them in the kit. Else make a list of the missing parts and contact Alistair from Alternative cars to see what he can supply. If you don't have the build manual, you can download it from the archive site.
