Q450 RNH

Postby dakasachal » Mon Jun 13, 2016 3:50 pm

Hi,
I'm the proud new owner of Q450 RNH a red Gold Coupe MK3. I have been after a Midas on and off for at least 30 years originally test driving at least 2 Mk 1s in the late eighties, early nineties each time I bottled it and a house and young family meant I went down the route of "sensible" family cars mainly but not exclusively metros, maestros, montegos and then a rover 600, you get the picture. But all the time I still yearned for a Midas and ideally a Gold Coupe. Q450 RNH is going to need some work to get it back on the road at the moment it's perhaps too early to say how much, but my plan is to make it roadworthy and then to start tidying it up, probably starting with the interior which is a bit interesting! I'm based in Portsmouth so it would be good to hear from any members in Hants, Sussex or Surrey. :D

Welcome aboard!

How about Dorset? There's a fair few Midas owners popping up along the South Coast here so we'll have to set about doing something or other shortly.

Hi,

Thanks for the warm welcome I'll try not to ask too many daft questions. Dorset is good and Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Bucks and Berks too. I will get some photos uploaded, once the kids have shown me how!

Daft questions are good too!

It's worth going along to the Open Day at Alistair's Workshop which will be coming up shortly. (not too sure off hand of the date but there's various postings on the forum plus the calendar on the club pages too) http://midasownersclub.co.uk/calendar/ 24th of July according to this.

This weekend there's a Classic Car show over at the Bath and West Showground at Shepton Mallet that's worth going along to not only to see the classic cars there and there's a club stand too for both Midas and Mini Marcos owners cars on display. It's a really good place to go for a variety of trade stands with lots of spares and various trim, So I'll be going along to the as too are several other members of the club.

It isn't necessary to go as far as Dorset: you have to go past Totton anyway.
See you at 24 July gathering.

I do hope all is going well for you with renovating Q450 RNH. I shall look forward to seeing it back on the road one day as it was my second midas - originally dark blue. It was a gold that Harold Dermott persuaded me to buy after I had done nearly 100,000 miles in my bronze midas. I sold it as I was emigrating to Canada in 1991. The new owner let me have the seats back as he wasn't comfortable in them and I am just about to put them into the convertible I bought last October! Best regards Val
