Hello Johnnyfixit.

Welcome to the forum. Hope you find lots of useful info.

Your in luck. There are a few members up in the NE who are a great bunch. Lots of friendly advice and trips out etc.

I'm in the North West if you ever fancy a trip over to near Lancaster.

Lots of nice guys down South too (and across the pond to Europe).

I thought I recognised that car. I think it belonged to someone called Peter Hills from Wales originally, although it used to have the cross hatch wheels on it. I have a feeling that it has extra braces in the roll bar attached to the boot area. (Probably rear wheel arches) as it was raced.

Kind regards,

David

That's the old car of Peter Hills, a previous chairman of the club. He is not a member anymore as far as I know. Nowadays he is busy hillclimbing with a light blue Mini. Your car is an original Corby built Midas, one of the first Convertibles. It should have a special one off roll over bar which was necessary because Peter used to race with this car. It has extra bracing and sits over the head of the driver while the original roll over bar is aft of the driver. He had an engine in this car built by Adrian Dodd, but it was replaced before he sold the car on. After he sold it I have seen it appearing regularly on Ebay, so I suppose there have been quite a few owners now.
It was a very good built car with lots of clever details.
