I've just bought a Coupe

Hi all, I've just become the owner of Q878 CPF, bought at the weekend and now in the garage. Enjoyed the drive north and compiled a small list of things to do. No doubt the forum will be usefull at some stage. Previous 'interesting' car history has included Sunbeam Imp Sport, Clan Crusader and Marcos Mantula. For those who know where it is I'm about 1/2 mile from the Greenfield factory where the Mini Marcos and series 1 cars were made. Image

Hello and welcome, Russell did a good job on the rebuild, I had a short passenger ride in the car at the Moffat classic car run.
My friends kids race for Mossely Cycle race team.

Was the mill somewhere near here?

Hello and welcome,
we know that car well in the N.E. The engine came out of a Mk2 car I had. Russell was pretty desperate to find an engine, as he hadn't fitted the crank thrust washers correctly and the crank ate the block!
Here is quite a well viewed picture of your new car, Stuart would be on the same event. We've done this event as the Midas N.E. group every year since 2006 and will be there again this year. Should anyone want to join us on this event PM myself.

The map ref is exactly correct it's the old part of the mill I think. Now a paper mill.
I know a little of the car's history, it's come with quite extensive paperwork and the forum search facility has helped with other bits. Parts to replace so far are rear shocks (ordered) and 4 tyres (some are pre 2000) tyres in the original size seem a bit limited though.

Thanks John., that's where I ended up at when I went to look a few years ago.
Yes 165/60 tyres are a bit thin on the ground these days, I'd probably go 175/60 if I was looking now.
I have CF1's on my normal car and like them, so CF2's may be worth a try.

Thanks for all the comments. We do like to do 'runs out' so may well head North East at some stage. I spent most of yesterday exploring bits of it and making lists of parts it has etc. Ordered a few bits today and some Nankang 165 60's so we'll see what they are like when it rolls again.

Paul, I'll get round to sending you some updates on the work done and where we have been. Off to Stanford Hall this weekend. Ruby's been in a friends bodyshop this week to have the scrapes fixed.
Best wishes

Hi, John,
What's the origin of the scoop over the heater air intake?
