2+2 Coupe- not Cortez!

Postby metro1000 » Mon Dec 08, 2008 9:38 pm

Hi,
I own a 1996/1997 2+2 Coupe fitted with an SPi- GTA engine (1992) , serial number 11 but was about the 3rd or 4th car built at home (built by me).Fully fitted out rear folding seats and is a full 5-seater (yes really) It was my wife's daily driver from 1998-2003 and was then "replaced" with a Peugeot 406 Coupe. Went to sleep from 2003-2005 while having a new cambelt/radius arms and glass refit, and suspension work following my purchase of a proper hydralastic pump, then back on the road in a "support role" to the '406 and a '407. Faded Oxford Blue gel now urgently needs painting.
Anybody know how many of these there are? some seem to think about 20-26 out of Sutton Bonnington but I'd love to know the actual figure.

Hi Joe,

The last Cortez kit I sold was chassis number 21, also Oxford Blue. I believe that Sutton Bonnington must have made 18 2+2 Coupe/Cortez kits, based on the chassis numbers that I inherited from the Redditch factory.
If anyone knows has any other information, I would be pleased to hear from them.
I would be keen to get a register of 2+2 owners together. I know all the Excelsior owners (now up to chassis number 11), but only half a dozen or so 2+2/Cortez owners.

Regards,

Alistair Courtney
