Hello! Black mk2 midas

Hello All,

Recently purchase Mal's Black Mk2 Midas well way back in January now, but haven't got round to posting an introduction!

I'm James, 22 and tall (6'5) hence the name lankyjames...

I've owned a classic mini for 3 years before this, so I know my way around the mini/midas running gear, which should hopefully come in handy.

I'm not planning anything drastic for the car, though I am currently stripping my old mini engine down for a rebuild to make something a little quicker and using the long final drive of my mini gearbox to help on the motorway :)

Welcome James,

Plenty of leg room in a Midas, I find it a Tardis of a car!

Hi James,
Welcome to the Midas forum. I saw on an other forum that you have a Mini subframe with a bike engine in it. Any chance that's going into the black Bronze?
Cheers, Hans

I hope i can make some too, I'm aiming to make the Open Day on July 18th, if everything goes according to plan on the engine front!

Thanks Rich, btw, nice car! I've read through your project log and it looks good! I have got another mk3 on the drive that's awaiting some much needed attention!

I find this too Alan, but I also get asked all the time how I fit in it! Similarly with the mini, but in that i had the seats mounted behind the cross member and they slid backwards until they hit the rear seats.....needless to say, I didn't take many rear passengers!

Unfortunately you must have be confused for someone else Hans! I'd love a bike engined mini subframe....and have looked into putting one into my car, but that's a future plan :D I'm also looking at putting a vauxhall engine into the mk3 midas I have, but have to work out some dimensions first!

Hi :D and thanks, I'm hoping to start work on the mk3 this summer, it was initially my fathers, but he struggled getting into and out of mine with his back (it's not that bad but not good for him!) Everything is there, just needs finishing!
