We usually have a collection day, where we all meet up and you take your screen home on the backseat of your car! We did it at Stoneliegh last time. You can have your screen posted but it is very expensive!!!

I will check up tomorrow, but I now think we have fifteen orders and could now go ahead with the group buy!

WE COULD HAVE OUR NEW SCREENS IN 4 TO 6 WEEKS.

This is the last time I will do this as it is a lot of work, but I will do a rear screen group buy if there is enough interest, as I need rear screens myself.

Alan

Just wondering what the price is Alan? I suppose you could also get a batch of standard none heated screens made too if the demand arose in the future?

I've posted on the Fiat forum to see if anyone there is interested in a screen.

Thanks for the reply Stuart,

As far as I know the price is just the same £230 collected, which compares favorable with the Mini Marcos Clubs price of £220, but ours (Midas) is a lower volume than the MMC.. So I think it's about right! The supplier told me last week that they will be the same price, but did not give me a figure. So I've asked for it in writing.

With regards to the rear hatch, I have a price for the glass, but I am awaiting a price for the screen printing of the border and heating elements. I'm hoping for a price about £120 per rear hatch!

Hi Alan

Believe me effort is very much appreciated. I know how hard it is to arrange a group buy for some thing that exists so, trying to organize on for something that needs custom build is an unenviable task! Was good to meet for the short time when you were up the other day btw. hope your journey back was ok? Amazingly midas got through its mot with the exhaust how it was!

I've managed to sneak in some overtime at work so Looks like doing both is going to be a goer :) Apologies if i offend, I defiantly want to get a screen more just making sure I can afford to. With the overtime and time scales looks like it may all slot together perfectly :)

Don't worry Graeme,

No offense was taking, I just thought, that I would explain my situation. From the reports I've had a HFS really transforms the car for all weather driving. But I've thought maybe we should be putting more effort into keeping the inside of the car dry! The trouble with me is I only bring my convertible out on sunny days, but I have dreams foe a winter car ( a Mk3 coupe) and a convertible for the summer! I'm hoping this winter to get some more garage time. I've knocked a wall down between two garages to make a bigger workshop, I've bought a new tube notcher and am hoping to make a tube bender soon. I've gathered together all of the components and plans to make a " Got trikes" tube bender, http://www.gottrikes.com/AH_tubebender.htm as I believe components made from tubes are stronger and much more elegant!
When I've sought solutions to other challenges, the answers to our problems seem to lye with modern car manufacturing. So it is just a case of spotting a solution from a modern car and applying it to our Midas's. I think it was Hans who said modern cars have two door seals, one on the car frame (A pillar) and one on the door surround. I noted when I had a Vauxhall Vectra, they had a perfect door seal for a gutter-less car. But it was purpose made to fit the door and frame! That's maybe the next group buy, but I think it's your turn next time, may be after your wedding!!! Just joking.

Kind regards Alan

Hello Everyone,

I can now confirm that the price for the HFS is: £230 collected from somewhere to be arranged!

I would propose that if you email me, for my address. I would then ask you to post me a cheque for the full amount of £230. I would then hold the cheques without cashing them, until I have the required fifteen orders. When I have the fifteen orders I will advise everyone that I am going to cash the cheques. You can then confirm via private email if it is OK to cash your cheque! That way nobody will be embarrassed, if it is not a suitable time to cash your cheque. But I must stress I need fifteen orders to go ahead.

Delivery would be about six weeks after placing the order.

If we do not get fifteen cheques in a reasonable time, I will destroy the cheques and the order will be cancelled, never to be done again!

Let us hope everything goes to plan.

My private email address is: alandonowho@blueyonder.co.uk

I've also managed to sort out the rear hatches, so if you want a new or spare heated and screen printed rear hatch for you Mk1,2 or 3, please see the separate post.

Hi Dewsnap Mk1,

Probably be able to pick up in the Stafford-shire area, It is too complicated to arrange at the moment as I don't know who is buying the screens. But some people who are local to each other banded together for there collection. Our supplier can send you the screen, as he posts all over the world, But I'm guessing that postage will cost £50-100!!! Which makes the screens expensive. So all I can say is have a little faith and it will all come together.

But please remember that I'm just another Midas owner and am making no profit from this group buy! So you cannot expect to have this handed to you on a plate. Last time we had screens going the length and breadth of the country, I even stored screens for some people for two years until they could pick them up!

All I can say is that I will do my best to accommodate you.

Kind regards Alan

If this is to be believed and you use your Midas in the winter a heated screen looks like a very good idea

http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/forecasters-w ... in-october

Dig out your hat and scarf and get ready for an early winter; forecasters are predicting that snow will fall in Britain as early as next month.

Andrew Milligan, PA
Temperatures will fall sharply over the coming months and are forecast to drop below average for the time of year.

Long-range forecasters at Exacta Weather have also said that we should brace ourselves for another brutal winter from December through to February.

James Madden said: "As we head towards winter, I expect to see the first signs of some moderate to heavy snowfalls as early as October or November in certain parts of the UK.

"I expect December, January, and February to experience below-average temperatures, with the heaviest snowfalls occurring within the time frame of November to January across many parts of the UK."

Mr Madden added that the UK will face "prolonged periods of extreme cold and snow from the Arctic regions as cold easterlies or north-easterlies develop".

The Met Office also warned that we should expect colder-than-average nights at the beginning of October, which would bring with them the chance of overnight frosts. The Midlands and the South-east are expected to bear the brunt of the cold snap.

Heavy snowfall and freezing conditions have caused chaos across Britain for the last two winters and it looks like we can expect more of the same this time round.

Thanks Stuart,

Six people have confirmed they require HFS, so only nine to go!

If I wasn't so poorly and poor I'd have a couple. I wish they'd been available back in the day when I used my car every day during some pretty harsh winters to get to work at some quite frankly horrible times of day and night.
