What you now see is that the focus is on the 2 lights and not the whole cluster. The black shape enhances the odd shape of the light cavity. If it would be an ellipse form, a black shape would look great. Because than it looks like an eye. But the widening towards the front bumper doesn't look that well. On the smart it is part of a bigger shape, so than it's no problem.
If you want a contrasting color maybe than you can make it 2 tone and let an ellips form run sharply around the lower light. Easier said than done, I still have to make moulds for my rear lights!

Yes I need to make some moulds for my rear lights too, to make them twin lamps.

I might go with this front lamp shape as it as, albeit colour keyed in the BL DIamond White the rest of the car is in. Will make the topside more aerodynamic (kidding) lol. I will still need to widen them 5 mm each side anyway. Cant do much with the front as it is squared off and I will be refraining from cutting the shell but it will certainly give its own character.

Thanks for the retouch Hans. Food for thought.

onwards and upwards.......

time for some EFI.

In the form of a set of suzuki gsxr600 (bike) TBA's and megasquirt. Linking it in with the EDIS based Megajolt I already have.
These bodies are great as you can get them for only a few quid, modify them by splitting them to suit the openings on my weber DCOE manifold and plumb it in (with some other bits. Set the megasquirt to self learn and away you go.

Like this on a Ford motor.

You can use the same idea, but using just one TBA on an A series manifold. Not for outright power, but nice for something a bit different plus nice driveability.

I suppose the nice thing of a computer injected system is that you do away with the endless needle grinding on a SU carb when you have a modified engine like you and I have (that is if you stick with SU like I did). In the last weeks of nice weather I have been testing several needles, also custom made ones to see how the car behaves. It is very annoying. Some needles give terrible engine behaviour at low revs, but get on song in the upper band. The standard needle is okay for the low end, but the engine feels out of breath above 4000rpm. I haven't yet discovered a needle that performs in the whole rev range. Then it must be much easier just to change the map in a computer for the perfect setup. Link it to a detonation sensor and a catylist sensor and the system must be capable of getting the perfect mixture.
Therefore I am saving money for a complete modern engine for my convertible. That is if they don't go through with this new big brother road pricing system in Holland. I won't accept such a device in my car. Else I will sell the convertible and try to find a Midas from 86 or older. These will be exempt from GPS tracking boxes in the car. I wonder which country has the worst government since WW2, England or Holland. It must be Holland.

Yes it will be nice (fingers crossed) plus its nice to see and log all the data too. And it should interface nicely with the innovate auxbox I already have.

hmmm, they talk about those tracker boxes in the UK too. I thought we would be the first ones to get them but its not happened yet. Talk about taking our liberties.... Its getting to be a bit like being run by a bunch of Nazis. Shock/horror.

Sorry if I am not Politically Correct there. Its how I feel.

Being PC now thats another interesting subject. I can never work out from one week to the next what the latest thing is we cant say or do.

I've got a set of Suzuki GSXR750 throttle bodies on my Alpine. Took it to be re-mapped a couple of weeks ago, and got 123bhp, compared with just over 100 on the previous sawn-in-half 40DCOEs.

nice one. when you think thats a 25% increase in power. where did you get those manifold stubs from to connect the TBA's to the dcoe manifold?

They're home made.
Actually the last 3bhp don't really count, as they were due to temporarily attaching some trumpets, which I can't use with my air box in place.

Its a bit quiet on here LOL.

Just been building a couple of these little beauties. Pretty easy to put together if you've got 7 or 8 hours.

One is currently up and running working the ignition on the Coupe whilst I go on an injection collecting spree (GSXR600 throttle bodies) for both engines.

Strangely I noticed an immediate increase in power with the Megasquirt compared to the Megajolt, even using a similar map. I cant account for it other than the map has a greater depth that Megasquirt II has over the Megajolts.

Looking forward to the fueling stage in a few weeks......
