Cretins on ebay

Does anybody else get sick of ebay at times? Bid on a 1380 engine for rebuild and was less than a minute short of winning when my bid was cancelled! the tool, sorry, sellers excuse was that the bidding was nowhere near what he would accept for the engine. Why can't these people learn to put a reserve on stuff? or even better ebay should put a rule in that if you're too stupid to set a reserve tough luck you get what the final bid was and learn a lesson! Rant over

Then you should complain at Ebay about this seller. A bid is a bid and sold is sold. That's the fun and risk of an auction. Ebay has rules for both sides. I once got a fraudulous seller expelled from Ebay which he didn't like.

I agree, the seller's reason wasn't a valid one. You SHOULD complain to eBay about him(her?).

I frikkin' hate Ebay and it's mainly been deals over cars that have taken me to that conclusion. Don't expect Ebay to do anything about fraudulent buyers or sellers, their 'bans' usually last a week.

I love Ebay. I've made just over 200 buys in about five years, everything from cars (two Midases), car spares, books, models, kayaks, clothes, DVDs - just about anything really. So far nothing's failed to turn up or been misrepresented. They have been mostly UK transactions, but I've also bought from Japan, the USA, Canada, Italy and Korea. I just stay away from any seller with poor feedback, poorly described or poorly photographed items. I lost a few quid on one transaction where the seller notified me, after I'd paid for an item, that he'd made a mistake in the description. He offered a refund, which I accepted, but in between the two paypal transactions the Japanese/UK exchange rate had changed in his favour. I probably could have claimed it back but couldn't be bothered. My wife was informed once by Paypal that her account had been used fraudulently (she hadn't noticed) but the 'stolen' £400 was refunded by Paypal within a few days.

I've only made one sale so far, a pair of ex-Midas Corbeau seats that went for about £100, and that was trouble free.

So I have a reasonable amount of faith in both Ebay and Paypal, it's just the small minority of cretinous sellers that you have to beware of.
