Insurance

Well it's that time of the year, so I've got to do all of the battering again, which I hate.

Last year I got my renewal quote and I cannot remember exactly what was, but I was paying about £130. The new quote came in at about £180, so I decided to shop around. I got a quote for about the same £130, the original company came back to me and matched the price and so I stayed with the original company. But why can they not give me the correct price in the first place! Because they are just trying it on. So this year comes around and the quote is £150! Here we go again.

But by chance I noticed in the latest club magazine an advert for 2gether insurance. So I gave them a call, it was a breath of fresh air. I spoke to the owner "Gary". They seem to be a small firm and offer a good personal service, not like the two large impersonal companies who I have dealt with over my seven years of Kit car ownership.

Anyway the upshot is; no mucking about an instant quote of £95 and placed on cover straight away.

Give them a try 01945 465508, option 1, talk to Gary, mention Midas.

Please report back on how you get on. I'm sick of the big boys trying to hike up the prices.

Rant over Alan

I've been with Graham Sykes throughout my Midas ownership, and I'm still paying under about £100, even without the club discount.

Can't you have a sort of classic car insurance in England for the Midas? I have it on my Midas since it's not my daily vehicle and I cover less than 5000km per year with it. A standard insurance costs me 73 euro this year (that's including increased tax, government bastards) which is about 60 pounds?

Those figures are for the type of insurance you mention, if it were a regular car it would be circa £250 a year.

Yet again it sounds like we're being ripped off, but we know that already.
