EU Car Manufacturers

Looking at what I constantly read with issues getting the Midas on the road in other countries in the EU....

I find it really weird that we live in a European Union and yet people are having difficulties putting their cars on the road in other parts of the EU. Surely that not very constitutional. It should be fair across the board, especially if the car has already been legally registered.

Its almost like the EU is trying to make large manufacturers monopolize. Hows the small guy supposed to be given a chance to be a free enterprise and make a success if all the doors are shut in their face.

OK thats my rant!

The weird thing is that the EU agreed during the Maastricht convention somewhere around 1992 (I think) to accept each other cars without too much hassle when the car was registered in an other EU country. In Holland this rule was implemented to the letter. So I could get my Convertible on Dutch plates easily. Just a MOT and a few tests and it was done. I don't understand why other countries seem to have signed this agreement, but apparently have no intention of making it work. I am not a laywer or a politician, but my impression is that the problems in Germany with getting Midasses licensed is against European laws.
Generally car manufacturers make use of the European laws. I believe Westfield was approved in Holland this summer and now can sell cars in whole Europe.

Your not wrong there Hans.

Health and Safety in general makes me laugh when I go round certain other EU countries.

Glad to see Westfield have been approved. Not much room for the small time guy though with the new rules coming through.
