New Midas Owners Club Website

Following a brief downtime earlier ( did anyone notice? ) I have successfully moved hosting, redirected the domain name and uploaded the brand new (hopefully improved ) Midas Owners Club website!

It's exactly the same content as before, but I urge you to look around, tell me what you think any critisism, ideas are greatly appreciated, as too are notifcation of any bugs!

This site should be easier for any non-technically minded to add content to, so long as you have a login and sufficient rights that is!

I could also do with beefing up the gallery somewhat and would like to request that if you go to any shows and take some pictures PLEASE get in contact, similarly what do people think of putting up a owners and their cars page or gallery section?

Visit the website here; http://www.midasownersclub.org/

Hi James, seems fine to me.

I used to use Wordpress too but I tend to prefer Joomla/Mambo though and use that now as theres lots of plugins.

Keep it simple though is the name of the game ;)

Hi James,
I have put the majority of my Midas photo archive on Flickr. They are free to use. Also go through the archive on Colins site. There are a few magazines that have great pics you can use (old stuff, so I don't expect copyright issues). It's 700mb in total, I think that will keep you busy.

@manifoldj
I haven't looked into joomla too much but have heard good things about it, I think wordpress offers a nice simple and easy solution for the MOC and like I say adding front page content will be nice and easy.
I don't expect the site to change much if at all!

All works nicely and looks good :)

@hans;
Do you have the direct links /urls to these pages? I will add the photos to the site as a nice central location for all things midas / a backup for all the photos seen can't be a bad thing!

What do you both make of the new site?

Thanks Hans, i'm just uploading the archive cd to the website now.

Just trying to have the website as one big one-stop for information, pictures etc.

Maybe add an FAQ on technical problems etc? Project logs? Members and their cars? Lots of ideas but want to keep it clean!

It could be interesting for a technical page to make a list of important inspection items. There is a small database on the Yahoo forum and recently I've placed it on this forum as a jpg. This will prevent all sorts of dangerous situations as collapsing rear suspensions, jammed open throttle, undertrays dropping, bonnet flying etc. Also perhaps interesting is a checklist for buying a Midas, and a list of specific maintenance items (mainly simple stuff as lubricating hinges etc. but try finding new rear window hinges!)
Good luck.

You've just reminded me why i don't like yahoo forums, the layout makes me shudder. I cant stand tree-like forums, i want to read all the content in one go...

Will have a good look through when im accepted as a member of the group though :)
