Midas Owners Club - for the new web site

Postby cortezkeeper » Mon Dec 08, 2008 4:54 pm

It may be worthwhile if the Club puts a few words on this new web site, so the following is from the Committee. Please respond so that we can do things better !!
It is very true that just a few years ago, the Club was struggling, especially in respect of the irregularity of TGT and Newsletters. The reasons are historic and there's nothing to be gained by raking the ashes. However, since Hans took over as TGT editor there are three excellent issues per year and, thanks to Michael Horsley, there are regular Newsletters in between. We owe it Hans particularly and to Michael to reverse the decline in membership numbers, so that more Midas owners can benefit.
Further, the club can now offer discounted insurance deals through Adrian Flux and Footman James - set the savings here against the annual club subs !! There have been club sites at all the major shows - sparse at one or two but the numbers depend on members - and the turnout at Stoneleigh was one of the best for several years.
The International Mini Meet in Holland and the Miniworld Action Day at Castle Combe was suppported by the Club after a few years' absence, so it is our intention to capitalise on this success in 2009. Both events excellent !
A year ago, the Club had the opportunity to purchase the moulds for the Mk 3 Gold Coupe and this was taken up after an overwhelmingly positive response from the membership. Any body part for that model can now be suppied and surely this is the style of active role in which the Club should be involved for the general future of the marque and the cars presently on the road. This, with close factory collaboration, is significant.
None of this however can be achieved without the support of members and thus the Committee needs to know what can be done to attract more members, or encourage previous members to re-join. The Committee is dedicated to the Club so any constructive response or suggestion is welcome. Contact any Committee member or respond via the website.
The next Committee meeting, which is as always open to all members and prospective members for their contribution, is scheduled for Saturday 28 February at the Swan Hotel, Radcot, near Faringdon, Oxfordshire. It's about ten minutes from Alistair's workshop and we expect to be starting around 1 p.m., having enjoyed one of theSwan's excellent lunches !! Committee meetings are flexible, so if there is sufficient demand, dates and venues can be modified.
