Window seals -all them! Help!

Postby MrBounce » Thu Jul 07, 2011 4:18 pm

I have big issues with my Mk1 - as it has been standing outside for so long, the seals on the windscreen, side windows, rear hatch and sunroof are all shot to pieces - they're badly perished and leaking. They urgently need replacing. I know that the windscreen is a Reliant Fox item, but as for the rest of them where do I go? This is the first time I have attempted any sort of rebuild where I don't know 100% where the parts are from.

It looks like the rear side window seals are one-piece. With a window that small I am worried I am going to struggle. :o

Seals direct is one option http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk

I'd say
US158 for door quarterlight windows
FWR846 for the door drop glass windows
WR66 for windscreen seal (perhaps)
FS72 for windscreen filler strip
ATT1980 for waist window strip (perhaps)
WR63 for the side windows (perhaps)

I've not looked into the door seals and hatch seal yet, and as of yet I've not tried any of the above mentioned seals, or bought any yet, it'll be interesting to see if you concur with my choices

Is that correct? I thought it was the same as the Mk2/Mk3 - Fiat 126.

Would someone else care to confirm or deny this?

Windscreen is Fiat 126 and the seal is Reliant Robin/ Rialto (I'm not aware of a difference between the two cars) or Fox

Had to google the Fox, windscreen looks a bit big for a 126 screen, but you never know

I thought that the Fox was the ugliest car in that picture, until I noticed the Ford Scorpio in the background... :D

Yup I was referring to the rubber, not the screen. Now I'm also unsure about the Fox. Think I'll go for a Rialto/Robin item just to be sure 8-)

Thanks guys. It's gonna take a while to do so it's something I will put on the back burner until the car is fully stripped, maybe even painted

By the way re the Scorpio, my ex-girlfriend's Dad had one - it was the 24valve Cosworth V6 version. Was very possibly the ugliest car I have ever seen but could that car move!!

The rubber for the screen is definatley Reliant (fox or kitten) Both slightly longer than the robin. The screen rubber for my car came from reliant partsworld 01543 431959 www.reliantpartsworld.co.uk Mail info@reliantpartsworld.co.uk
The cost in June last year was £28.41 for 10' plus post, packing and admin (£8) including Vat the total was £42.78. you could save the post but I suspect the fuel cost might be slightly more from Scotland. Hope you enjoyed Moffat.
Hope this is of use.

Hi Dave,
I suspect the Scottish flavour to your post may have been directed at me, although it's not me who's looking for screen trim...
Moffat was quite enjoyable, wish I'd managed to arrive for the Saturday too!

I have ordered some of this rubbers for my Midas, and the WR66 fits perfectly for the windscreen:

(Or on my facebook: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=3113330524679&set=a.2045750835854.2110225.1606896278&type=1&theater)

The WR61 for the side windows doesn't fix (on my car) but the WR63 (5 mm by 3 mm) does.

I hope this is helpful for someone else, it took my a while to find a good matching seal.
