headlights and covers

Postby Project79 » Mon May 18, 2015 12:41 pm

Hi guys I'm new to the scene. I'm just looking into bits I need to buy for my midas, I'm just wondering if the Fiat 126 headlights will fit in my bronze? (Apologies if it should be in mk2 section) also I'm wondering if the headlamp covers/surrounds can be found these days? As I believe I will be in need of a pair.
Many thanks in advance as I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions to ask!
Thanks
sam

Hi Sam,

The Mk1/Mk2 headlights were used in a variety of cars, so the Fiat 126 headlights might fit too. It is just a matter of seeing if the light unit will fit in the steel frames.
The steel frames are another matter as they have to be the Austin Allegro items to fit comfortably under the headlamp covers and being steel they rust away.

I can supply new headlamp covers as I made some new moulds for them a few years back. They cost £22 each (£20 for MOC members). Contact me by PM or email sales@midascars.co.uk

Regards,

That's fantastic because I will definatly need some covers/surrounds. I just need to find some headlamps and the bowls and securing rings.

Hi Sam
I found the box for my bronze headlights that I bought at least 25 years ago. The Lucas part number on the box is LUB424 54510103,Model type 4FR. and the units were suitable for Austin Allegro all models 1973 to 1980, Allegro 3 low line models 1980 on, Talbot Hunter , 1972 to 1980 and Triumph Dolomite 1976 to 1979. Good Luck in your search.
