Thought this may be of use to some people.

Just fitted a new battery to one of Bronze today. A Varta B18 fits like a glove IF:-
You carefully cut of the clamp rails round the bottom. Really is a top fit.

Quite a good price here :-

Graeme,

I put one in mine too; snug as the preverbial bug.

I also had to saw of the rails off. The old battery died on a rainy december morning, and after a day at work I got back to my car, parked alongside a park in downtown Helsinki, only to find out it won't fit. I just managed to find a shop where I could get a hacksaw, and proceeded to saw off the rails out there in the park, out in the rain.

I did one winter in the Midas. In Finland. Wouldn't do it again, not with the tuned up engine I now have...

I took a close look to the photo of the battery of Jon, and I notice this is a B35 type, not the B18 type. Probably the B18 will fit to, but I really liked the way the battery fits with the B35 type.
You still have to cut of the clamp rails!

The mouthing bracket is custom made of a stainless strip, with nice bents in it so that the screws won't hit the bonnet. The battery cut of is mounted with the screws of the shock absorber bracket.

One of the next things to do will be the brake lines!
