got the bug now

Thanks to Graeme i'm now the new owner of a MK2 fairly got the Alan bug .
This will give me 2 years to get it ready for the daughter to pass her test :lol: (promise it won't be there that long Alan)
Can't wait to get my teeth into it watch this space :oops:

Hope its working out ok for you :) Started the refresh of my spare engine for the other one. Anyone ever lifted the engine out by hand?

I dropped mine from below when I didn't have a hoist, wouldn't fancy doing it from the top without one.

A bare engine plus gearbox weighs 150kg, so you need something to lift it. I bolted a chain hoist to the (heigh) ceiling, like this one:

These things cost around 25 euro's in Holland and have an internal planetary system with brake. So it's very easy to use it to get the engine out by hand this way. You almost could do it yourself. Let the chain loose and the engine just hangs there. During the last lift I let my 12 year old son lift the engine while I guided it through the opening. A 10 very relaxed 10minutes job.
