Has somebody a picture of a bronze with MX5 seats in it?

Yesterday I bought a nice pair of MX5 seats, but the don't seem to fit my car...

I have a feeling you'll be the first. In what way won't they fit? and have you seen Alan's guide?

Ah right, they're obviously quite a tall seat then.

I had Honda Civic CRX seats in my Gold coupe. I removed the Honda sliding mechanism en put the seats on the standard seat runners. Height was no problem. I suspect the CRX seat is similar to the MX5 seat, but perhaps the inside of the Bronze is a bit smaller than the Gold?

It is indeed, the MK 3 floor is 2" lower and the headlining is also lower and bigger just where the top of the seat needs to be on the MK 2, so possibly 3" less room.

That's a lot. But if you get the seat right to the floor, it should fit. I had an issue with my bucket seats. By playing with the frame I could get it so close to the floor, you can't get your hand in between.

I suppose if you do the same with the MX5 seat it won't be a problem.

Hello all . I too purchased MX 5 seats but they were too tall for my mk.2 . Turns out the earlier MX5 seats are a lot shorter I hope this is of some help TOG .

I'm making some lightweight seats myself for my Mk2. I've found pretty much the same with MX5 seats and a few GRP ones too. They are often too tall to fit in particularly if you are tall like me and need to have the seats set a fair way rearwards due to long legs. I'll try and get something together enough to bring along to Stoneleigh with my car.

Hello all,

I've just removed a pair of MGF seats from a Mk 3 convertible today. They do fit into a Mk 2, as Alberto has them fitted into his Decathlon Mk 2. The seats are black or dark grey ( cannot remember which, old age) with green piping, they are in very good condition. If anyone is interested in a swap for some Mx 5 seats in similar condition I would be interested. Just thinking that some Mk 2 owners have got seats which do not fit their cars.

PM if anyone is interested.

Alan
