Spax rear coil over shock absorbers

Postby mfdriver » Thu Oct 09, 2014 3:22 pm

Just to say that SPAX do still supply G999 shocks, because they have just delivered a pair to me.
For those who may be interested!

Hi Malcolm,

Mine has got Gaz offset coil overs for a mini, so i do not have any reference point to work from.
I am looking for an over all length, lenth of fitted spring,
Are the ones you have adjustable spring platforms or just fixed
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks John

Can't send photos as already fitted to car before you posted your message.
They are fixed spring platforms, the old springs were 12.5" long progressive rating but unknown loading!
I have gone for new 10.5" springs, 2.25" dia. and 110lbs loading. The 12.5 " springs needed compressing to get them out, so basic distance between spring platforms was about 12" on old ones, about 11.5" on new ones.
These have lowered the rear by 2", but I have yet to try handling as front end currently up in the air awaiting fitment of Hi-Los and nearly new adjustable Spax shockers purchased from eBay.
I understand from the forum that GAZ offset are not really appropriate for Midas use, as offset can cause spring to rub on bodywork?
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply And information Malcolm.
I am taking the gaz shocks off as we know they are no good for the car
I can now decide what to use instead as plenty of information has been posted on this subject.
Thanks again John

The extended length of my Spax from the bolt centre to the top of the stem is 430mm. The fitted length of the original spring was 265mm and 285mm fully extended.
