mcf01magazine page 6/16 is a good place to start, my thoughts are mentioned in Alan's article. http://midas.orba-design.com/

I'd also like to know what coilovers would suit as direct replacements to the ones already on my midas, would i be right in guessing that mini ones would be ok?

Inline mini ones do fit, although the inch and a quarter springs tend to rub annoyingly on the damper. I also know of at least one member who has fitted the off-set top pin ones as fitted to minis too.

Gaz make dampers suited to the Midas, having said that I feel that all the standard length dampers are a bit too long for the badly positioned rear suspension on the mk2, fine for the mk3 though.

More suspension talk here http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mb/mes ... 4.1&maxT=8

Oh in that case just look up GAZ, AVO. and SPAX with google then ring them and ask for some rear suspension for a Midas. If they stock them I'm sure they'll sell you some shiny ones of the correct length ;)

Gaz seem to be the most popular option at the moment

Avo's do have a refurbishment option. You get a new pair if you give them you old ones (provided they are Avo). Bad bit is that they are the worst of the three. I personally have good experience with the Spax dampers.

Some years ago I fitted new Spax, even managed to get nice red gaiters to keep out dirt from the rods, still they wore out. Gaz replacements are good.
Whilst on a vist to the factory before "THE FIRE", I'm certain there was a midas with Koni coil overs on the rear, but was fitted with the single rate spring. Sorry, I cannot remember the owner's name. Koni quality is legendary.
