Wiring loom

Am I right in thinking the Midas uses a standard Metro loom? The reason I ask is that my horn, which has just stopped working, is operated by a relay, but according to the Haynes manual it's worked directly by the column switch.

Most Midas cars have a bespoke wiring loom with extra earths added.

I wondered because the build manual lists a Metro loom under 'donor items'.

Hi,
you can use either it just depends on how much work you want to do. The Midas one just plugs in and away you go but the connectors have a tendancy to part company with the loom on older ones. The Metro one would require a few mods to make it work, I have a Mk1 Metro loom in my bronze as the factory loom was well beyond salvation having been butchered from the bulkhead forward and it's what I had laying about. I'm contemplating swapping it for an '84 on Metro loom in the near future as it'll give me a bit more flexibility going forward in terms of kit already included in the loom and gets me away from glass fuses.
Cheers,
Mike
