something has gone wrong

im gutted devasted super pi@#ed off and on the verge of tears all in one go something is making a horrible noise it started doing it about an hour only in reverse now its constant when driving but all gears work fine and it pulls fine just sounds awful im truly gutted as i was really looking forward to the drive to stoneleigh me in midas dad in minus im gutted :cry:

If you have a spare engine, you could swap it in an afternoon. Have you found the cause of that electrical fire?

yeah the electrics were the heater it still blows fuses so i just disconnected it for now i dont have a spare engine just gutted although daddy came to the rescue and reckons its a cv joint so we are stripping it down saturday fingers crossed could be done ready for stoneleigh

I hope its not the diff...or the ROLLER DOUBLE BEARING FOR MAINSHAFT. If either of these goes..its bye bye gearbox.

gearbox has gone 1st and reverse are the culprit gonna just buy a spare engine and box and do a straight swap or does anybody know what the problem may or if its an easy fix

ROLLER DOUBLE BEARING FOR MAINSHAFT



I'd go with the double race bearing as David says, although after replacing my failed bearing my gearbox worked just fine for years afterwards.

Not a chance, it's engine out and engine off the box, if it has gone don't forget to change the oil pump, it'll be a mess after chewing up all the plastic cage bits etc.
