Trailing arm

Postby Geoff Butcher » Fri Aug 03, 2012 8:16 pm

Just thinking about changing one of my trailing arms. Are there any snags or helpful hints I should know about before I start? (non hydragas)

If it is the same as the convertible then the radius arm is one of the few jobs that I have done which was less work than I expected. The manual says that you have to disconnect the brake line, but I found that this is not necessary, you can just separate it from the hub and radius arm and tuck it out of the way which saves a bleeding job at the end. I'd also take the opportunity to check the wheel bearings on the way through.

Good luck!

OK, I've found the first snag. The bolts holding the damper bracket are so rusty that no spanner or socket is going to grip. Also the damper bolt is bringing the metalastik bush out with it. What else can go wrong?
