The Metro used metric threads on everything, except for the A-series engine (which was already a confusing mixture of UNF and UNC fittings). Your best bet is to buy a set of brake lines specifically made for the MG Metro. A set of stainless braided PTFE brake lines, such as Goodridge, Earls, or HEL, can work out to be not a lot more than buying the OEM spec pipes individually.
Just make sure you get a set that is for the MG Metro and not the Mini conversion set for MG Metro calipers, as these are metric at the caliper end and imperial at the body end.

These should be the correct hoses.
