Battery drain

Postby axshack » Thu Jul 16, 2015 7:22 pm

Hi all,

my car has just totally drained a brand new battery in 3 days!! shock-horror!

so, I recharged it, hoping it was going to take a charge...but it seems to have done so ok...good...

I reconnected the positive cable, then used an Ammeter between the negative terminal and the negative cable....and got a reading of....5.6Amps !

Yikes! no wonder my battery died. This is a huge power drain on a car that is switched off I think you would agree, so now to identify what is causing the problem. So I am going to pull the fuses one-by-one to identify which circuit is at fault...BUT...I cannot locate a layout of the fuse and relay panel that makes sense.

I assume I have an '84 MG Metro donor, but does anyone have a sketch or know where I can locate a diagram to identify the fuses?

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave
When I looked at my 89 Gold Coupe fuses this was the layout, I don't know if yours is different (what year was your car hatched?).
The wiring loom in original Midas (Corby) cars was a Midas special, it was not from the donor vehicle.

Hope it helps
Regards Mark
