Ended up using some wet and dry to sand the ball down till it sat in properly. I find them notchy anyway compared to the standard 1 so in the midas I just chopped off a chunk of the stick and then bent the top slightly to get it where I wanted it

I had not considered that might be a problem, I will check them both for size now.
I certainly had to remove some metal from the inside of the new collar for it to sit down on the remote housing better.

If it doesnt work out, I will put it down to experience !!

ah ha! sorted !

had my local machine shop shave 1mm off the inside of the new collar to make it fit the gear change better...and...fixed!!

It is just as notchy as the original, but takes some getting used to, to find 3rd, which I understand is always a problem...in fact I had this problem before I changed the gear lever !!

If anything, the quick shifts accentuate notchy shifts, you get used to it soon enough.

yes, I am quite liking it...especially as the gear knob does not obscure the AFR gauge anymore !

I stopped punching the lower dash when shifting into third when I fitted mine.

Approximately how much travel is the gear stick reduced by. Thinking of getting one for my MK 2.

In my car the gear lever is nowhere near the dash when in third. Wonder what the difference is?
