Power steering

Postby wolfie » Sun Jan 05, 2014 9:05 pm

Has anybody ever considered power steering on their midas? The missus is a wimp so I've been looking at the column from an mgf with epas system. If nobody else has ever tried it I will and find out if it will work, the only issue I can see is clearance under the dash

The Mini people use a Vauxhall Corsa steering column, mated to a Mini steering rack and someone on EBay sells a variable controller, so you can adjust the amount of assistance. The assistance is normally adjusted by the ECU, relative to your speed. One of our local people has shortened an MGF/TF steering rack, which he is fitting in a Mk 1 Midas with a Honda D series engine. there are pictures on this forum.

Stuart, I've tried to find the "Sticky" on the 16V forum, but failed, maybe you can assist.

Thanks for that guys. The corsa system seems slightly more compact than the MGF one which will help
