I've got dim memories of mixing up all sorts of oily concoctions to go in SU dashpots, needless to say I've been married, and been divorced since then and I haven't a scoobies what I used to use.

Anyone got any pet oils to use?

Rich

I've just done the obvious thing and looked up SU on the web, SAE20 oil seems to be the recommended puppy.

What turned you on to auto transmission fluid Hans?

Hi Rich,
No idea, I suppose it was advised to me when I started with these cars many years ago. Or maybe I found it in a book. I'll go through my books to see if it was written there. Anyway it works fine.

There is no one oil for all SU carbs, it has to be checked for each individual carb to ensure that the correct enrichment is given during acceleration. There are too many variable for one oil works best. production tolerances and wear can mean gear oil in one car and 3 in 1 on another give the same damper effect!!
