Stanford Hall 2016

I have received confirmation that the club has its place confirmed at the National Mini Day, Stanford Hall on Sunday 11th September, I have provisionally booked for 5 cars, however, there is room for this number to increase.

Our Midas' are really well received at this event, the location is very scenic (set in the grounds of a stately home) fairly central in the country and access is good as it is only a few miles from the M1/M6 interchange.

There is usually an excellent trade and auto-jumble area for all the bits you may be needing either sparkling new or otherwise.

Aside from the above there will be hundreds of minis of all ages from the rough & ready to concours and potentially thousands of people to see the wonders that are known as Midas. We all know, having owned and driven these cars that they should be regarded as classics in their own right, but if we don't get out and about in them so that more people recognise their potential they will remain in the shadows of mainstream classic motoring.

Sounds like a pretty good event. Good to see some more Northerly happenings sounds ideal for the Midlands members, sadly a bit far for me down here on the South coast.

Last year's event was a really good day out, so I'm looking forward to visiting it again this September.

The location is just off the M6, M1, A14 junction, so you can't get much more central. We will have to find a way of enticing you up from Dorset. It is only 200miles from you Kelvin.

I thought that I should bump this post up again as it is now less than a month away.

Perhaps now that Kelvin has a new Midas we can tempt him to drive it to Stanford ;)

If the two other Decathlons turn up you will have to bring your car over for a photo, or two. I'm wondering what Richard is going to turn up in. He mentioned a new project around a month ago and knowing the speed he works at, it is probably half finished by now!

The project is still in planning, my mk3 coupe will be the basis. I will be in my mk3 convertible.

Alistair,
It is too far for me to go down and come back in one day from the wilds of Northumberland!!
I hope you have a nice day for the show.

Tomorrow is show day, weather forecast is reasonably good, no rain and 18-20 degrees.

Had a great time at Stanford Hall. I finally managed to take my MK2 to a venue after a drought of over twenty years and had a good chat to the other Midas owners. The weather was perfect and for the first time I saw two MK2 Decathlons together, so a group photo couldn't be resisted.
