Congratulations to John for organising such successful event. He got a story in the local press the week before, which brought in a number of locals, several of whom knew nothing of Midas and the factory's history. 13 Midas's took park from far and wide, plus one Mini Marcos which had also been produced in the factory. The press were again there taking lots of pictures on the day.
As were were preparing to go over the top to the Oilcan Cafe near Holmfirth, the heavens very suddenly opened. I mean SUDDENLY, it went instantly from a few light spots to a deluge so that by the time we got into the cars, everyone was quite wet. The deluge continued all the way from Greenhill to nearly into Holmfirth showing a Midas limitation, namely the demisting system in extreme conditions. Everyone was driving with one hand on the wheel and a wiping cloth in the other. A great shame, since otherwise the climb out of Greeenhill, several miles with a continuous flow of curves, would have been a blast.
The Oilcan Cafe also got the thumbs up; an interesting and popular venue with generous proportions of good food.
Tony Moss and I had a great day out, thoroughly enjoying the fun up from Birmingham and Coventry through Derbyshire. Just what Midas's were designed for.

I want to congratulate John also for arranging a super event, WELL DONE! It was great to be in the birth place of a car that has a pretty impressive pedigree. All those that brought cars should also take a pat on the back, as the cars looked stunning. Even if the weather didn’t play ball the roads in the Peak District were surely what the cars were designed for. To see all who turned out to go to the the Oil Can café and see the cars as well as have an enjoyable lunch was testimony to what a great and enjoyable car the Midas is! Thanks again John

Good to know the event was well received. Here are a few more pictures. My Coupe which always seems to be hiding somewhere, The Mini Marcos, Prototype and car No1, and Anthony Draper, a recent new member who MOT'd his car the day before and had clocked up 10 miles after restoring it. Wisely he took it home (lives locally) rather than drive over the moors in the rain, then turned up in another car.

A big thanks to Alistair Scott who opened up the factory site for us, gave guided tours and had a rather nice Volvo 1800.

We would also like to express our thanks to John Orson for arranging this great get-together.

It was a real pleasure to see the range of models and to talk with their owners and to those who are still working on theirs. I am sure that they went away inspired by the show of completed cars.

And what a bonus to visit the Oil Can Cafe for refreshments- a lovely venue.

We enjoyed the visit to the factory and it was testament to John's hard work and organising. We apologise for not attending the Oil can café but the sudden change in weather made us re-think our plans as we needed to be 260 miles south by the following morning.
