Hi all it's now getting to the time where I want to build a spare engine from scratch I would like to get it to around the 100 Bhp mark and was wondering what tips you can give me preferably cheap but not really bothered if my wallet overtakes my brain as its my pride and joy I have been looking for an engine on eBay an found quite a few reasonable options is 100 horses to much on a budget or do I need to go all out and upset the other half any comments would be much appreciated

100horses is attainable NA, but you will be looking at top end 1380 overbore, lumpy cams big valve ported head and will require a stronger diff to boot!

I found the best bang for buck was around the 1330 mild engine build, though a more suitable daily can would've been a more sensible idea!

If we get to meet at a show soon I can take you for a spin in mine?

If you want a reliable and driveable 100bhp, turbo it.

A 100bhp n/a engine won't be a pleasant drive in comparison to something like an n/a mg metro engine.

I'd agree on turbo for a pleasant 100bhp drive able car, that or supercharger for a bit of a simpler installation, would fit in the midas bay quite well - I keep thinking about it myself!
