Ha ha. Not been on there much for years.

On the turbo front though - an MG cam, well ported head, compression ratio at about 8.8 - 9:1 and about 12 psi will drive extremely well. Much more than that and it starts to get a little silly (The last engine in our metro van 200bhp+ on a turboed 1300). Fine on the drag strip, but a little bit of a handful on the road.

EDIT: The M45 based supercharger kits are not great. More than about 7psi of boost and all they generate is heat (and not more power).

So shall I buy an mg metro turbo engine then what do they put out standard mine is pushing 72bhp I think will an extra 30 Bhp make much difference

No, don't waste your money on an over priced old turbo engine that has been thrashed for the last 30 years. If your current engine is good, I would recommend some head work, then bolting on a turbo to that. some porting, and opening up the chambers to get the compression ratio down a bit.

Standard metro turbo is 94bhp. Yes the pistons are a bit tougher and the crank is nitrided, but the standard stuff isnt bad.

Mine is a 1330, ported and running a Kent 266 megadyne and is a nice tractable engine with enough top end to keep me happy.

If I was to suggest one thing that improved it the most I'd say losing the distributor and going MegaJolt with a well set up SU HIF44.

I don't want speed just a bit more low end grunt I'm not bothered if it only does 85 90 mph just a little more traffic light take off power will do me I use a transit as my daily drive and my longest outing will be stoneleigh which is not really that far away it just feels a little underpowered at take off there is nothing wrong with the engine it's just me
