MK2 front subframe mounts

Postby Inim666 » Wed Jan 06, 2016 10:20 pm

Just a quick question for mk1 and mk2 owners. Do you have front subframe mounts on your cars as I'm building a decathlon and it has none fitted but I'm sure it would have

My mk2 had mounts fitted like this when I bought it.

When it's rebuilt I'll probably change them for something better

They're the wrong way round, but it probably doesn't matter too much.

If I remember correctly the Midas manual states removal of the small locating peg
off the mounting.

Stuart is correct that the mounting is the wrong way round, I have copied and pasted an exert from the Midas manual so you Know how they should be fitted.

The later type (post October 1976) ‘single bolt’ subframe
must be used. This subframe is rubber mounted, and the
first step is to fit the 2 front, and 2 rear rubber
mountings. NB: The front rubber mountings are fitted with
the centre hole secured to the subframe and the body
mounting hole vertically BELOW the centre hole. Make sure
the centre bolt is tight as it is inaccessible after
assembly. Also file off the metal pin on the mounting as it
is not used on the Midas. The rear mountings fit with
their flange BELOW the subframe.
