Hi Alan,
I've scanned a few pics from my cars photo collection you may find interesting.
The first is Mike's Bronze. He covered the lights cavity with perspex for a clean look.

The second is a Fiat Coupe if you are a bit more adventureous. The lights have been moved forward with 2 black tubes behind it.The perspex cover follows the curves of the 2 tubes highlighting the separate beams.

The third is a modified Diablo. Personally I think the lights look too small for such a wide car, but this is what you get if you don't cover the lights with perspex, but have a moulding in front of the beams. It also highlights the fact that the car has four light beams.

The fourth is a very clever mod of a GTM Libra. This car has appeared in a recent Which Kit and can be found on the TeamGTM website. The lights are not in one line, but one is in front of the other. To highlight the 2 beams per pod the owner has placed silver rings around them. I am not sure if this will fit on a Bronze. I wonder if it fits on a Gold as well, but will try a few setups on my car in the near future because I like it a lot.

Hope this give you a few clues how to proceed.

Hi Hans,

Thanks for that, I favour the GTM and Diablo pictures, here is another car which I spotted with interesting headlights and front valance!

Errr...Perspex and Plexiglas are the same thing, just different trade names for polymethyl methacrylate ;)

Hi Geoff,

So is there anything else that I can use, with real glass like properties?
I think perspex just looks sad in the long term!

Polycarbonate is far stronger and is not prone to those little cracks which always appear in perspex over time. It is however very sensitive to certain solvents such as acetone and MEK, but that isn't likely to be a problem in practice. I was thinking of getting some to make up bonded-in rear side windows for my MK3, because I can't stop the water getting in. Basically the windows aren't a very good fit in the aperture.

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the information, I'm keeping all options open until I can trial fit the engine, but will keep everybody informed. The more brains on the job the better, because my ram is fading.
